Around two-thirds of top executives express that leadership development is their number one human capital concern. However, a staggering 93% acknowledge that their organizations are not effectively building leaders, and an additional 90% state that leadership development fails to achieve concrete business results or clear impact. Additionally, 30% admit to missing out on global business opportunities due to a shortage of leaders with the right mindsets and capabilities.
With experience in overseeing over 100 strategic innovation projects for Fortune 500 companies worldwide, I have learned the hard way that leadership development is more critical than strategy or process for long-term competitive advantage. Without effective next-level leaders, strategic change, innovation, and transformation initiatives—essential for survival and success in today’s rapidly changing world—will fall short.
Leaders must not only drive efficiency gains and relentless performance upgrades but also lead and implement innovation, change, and transformation, necessitating different skills and brain networks. However, a major obstacle exists—the conventional approach to developing leaders, rooted in the outdated Victorian education model, is inadequate and outmoded.
Having dedicated my entire adult life to understanding what next-level, next-generation leadership looks and feels like, I, along with my colleagues, have developed a self-system curriculum for truly transformational leaders. This curriculum includes 200 specific, buildable, and measurable capabilities ranging from radical self-awareness and state mastery to systems awareness and storytelling mastery.
To radically improve how leaders act, interact, and communicate for a successful future, we must move beyond the outdated executive education paradigm.
In every keynote, customized to specific event audiences and ambitions, I share insights on why smartness and sharpness can hinder next-gen leadership. I delve into how to rethink and reinvent leadership development to unleash next-level leaders, emphasizing the daily practice, discipline, and new habit-building required for future-fit leadership.
Topics covered also include the processing of old emotions and difficult memories, leveraging peer support for building leaders in remote, hybrid, and in-person settings, and shifting how leaders interact and communicate away from control and command using scripts, circles, and embodied practices.
Additionally, I address transforming friction and fragmentation to forge coherent and collaborative top teams, and building the ambition, courage, business case, momentum, and investment needed to unleash next-generation leaders.
I saw the room go from a bit tired to very inspired. Totally engaging and fully immersive. You wouldn’t want to miss a second of it. It was powerfully supercharged right from the start.
